What is PAT Testing?

Key Components of PAT Testing

- Ensure that the appliance is being used in accordance with its intended purpose and within its capacity.
Electrical Testing
- Earth Continuity Test: Ensures there is a continuous path from the appliance’s metal parts to the earth pin of the plug.
- Insulation Resistance Test: Measures the resistance of the appliance’s insulation to ensure it is adequate to prevent electrical leakage.
- Polarity Check: Ensures that the live, neutral, and earth wires are connected correctly.
- Leakage Test: Measures any leakage current to ensure it is within safe limits.
Labeling and Recording
- Each tested appliance is labeled with the test date, the next due date, and whether it passed or failed.
- Detailed records are kept for legal and maintenance purposes.
